IIT Delhi develops COVID-19 Diagnostic Kit “Corosure”

The kit has received Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) approval with the highest score and Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) approved with very high sensitivity and specificity.

Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ e-launched Corosure, the world’s most affordable RT-PCR based coronavirus COVID-19 diagnostic kit developed by Indian Institute of Technology-IIT Delhi. The kit has also received the approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) as well as the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).

The Corosure Kit developed by IIT Delhi is much cheaper than other kits and is manufactured by Delhi NCR-based Newtech Medical Devices. With this, IIT Delhi has become the first academic institution to obtain the approval from ICMR for a real-time PCR-based diagnostic assay.
