Cabinet announces formation of IN-SPACe
On 24 June, The Union Cabinet announced the formation of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) to promote the participation of private industries in space activities, including planetary exploration missions.
According to a government statement, IN-SPACe will provide a level playing field for private companies to use Indian space infrastructure. It will also hand-hold, promote and guide the private industries in space activities through encouraging policies and a friendly regulatory environment.
These reforms in the Indian space sector will allow Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to focus on research and development activities, new technologies, exploration missions as well as human spaceflight programme.
